Amanda White

Director of Anti-Hunger Initiatives

awhite@ymcarome.org

Amanda joined the Rome YMCA in August of 2023 as the Director of Anti-Hunger Initiatives. She comes to us with a long history with the Y.  As a child she was raised in the halls and on the fields of the Rome YMCA where she participated in numerous programs, sports, and day camps. Early on she developed a heart of service and a love for the Y and its mission.

She worked for the Rome YMCA throughout college eventually completing an internship with the membership and marketing director. She then graduated from Kennesaw State University with a degree in Sports Management and a concentration in marketing.

Shortly after graduation she and her family moved to Colorado to further pursue their careers and passion to lead active lifestyles while serving others. While there she worked at the YMCA of the Rockies as an office manager for the Buildings and Grounds department. In that role she was responsible for overseeing and delegating tasks related to the upkeep and maintenance of over 300 buildings on the campus and the 860 acre property. She also served on their diversity and inclusion board and was part of their first response team.

In 2020 her life took a new turn as The YMCA of the Rockies temporarily closed their doors. After much thought, she and her family decided to move back to Rome. Seeing the need in the community, she decided to work in education with Rome City Schools. It was there that she began to understand and see the daily struggles that many children and families face right here in our hometown. Her heart called on her to do more to help those families outside of school hours and the Rome YMCA answered with an opportunity to step in as the Director of Anti-Hunger Initiatives.

This is a critical role in our community and with the help of our community partners, a strong staff team, and our gracious volunteers she is excited and ready to serve to help meet the needs of our families.
