Red Cross Lifeguard/CPR/AED Classes

If you’re 15 or older and looking for a great summer job or challenging career, the Red Cross Life Guard Certification is a great place to start! Through instructor led training, training videos, group discussion, and hands-on practice, you’ll learn rescue and surveillance skills, first aid and learn to administer CPR and proper techniques for using an AED. Courses focus on a variety of environments, including pools, waterfronts, water parks, and shallow water attractions.

Prerequisites:
Must be age 15 or older

Candidates must be able to swim 300 yards, continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both, but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used.
 
Tread water for 2 minutes, using only the legs.
 
Complete the following within 1 minute and 40 seconds:
Swim 20 yards (goggles are not allowed), surface dive, to a depth of 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10 pound object. Return to surface and swim 20 yards on back with both hands holding the 10 pound object, and keep face above water so swimmer is able to get a breath. Exit water without using a ladder or steps.
 
*ALL ONLINE WORK MUST BE COMPLETED AT LEAST 3 DAYS BEFORE THE CLASS BEGINS.

2-year CPR/AED certification and 2-year Lifeguard certification.

CPR Class/First Aid Class

This class meets OSHA CPR requirements and is designed for individuals who are not in the healthcare profession but want, or need, to know CPR so they may respond in the event of a life threatening emergency. This is a four hour class which utilizes video learning, instructor lecture, class discussion and skills practice to prepare participants to recognize, assess and respond to life threatening emergencies.
