We are seeking volunteers to help with the Food Program year-round! Summer volunteers are needed to help with the meals or lead an activity with the kids. Volunteers working with the meals will help with set up, serving and also clean up and must be on site for their shift 30 minutes prior to serving the meal. Volunteers for our Mobile Food Markets are needed year round to help organize and pack food prior to each market, or to help distribute food at the markets.

We welcome individuals and/or groups to volunteer either one time or, preferably, on a regular schedule throughout the year. If you have questions please contact Stephanie McElhone, Community Outreach Director, at smcelhone@ymcarome.org

Prior to working, all volunteers must:

(A) Complete a Volunteering Interest form

Volunteering Interest

(B) Attend a 15-30 minute training with a Food Program Trainer (set up either immediately before your first shift or at a convenient time for you). Volunteers for the Summer Food Program must be 18+ years old.

(C) Most volunteer positions require a background check, once you speak with a Y representative an email invitation for a background check will be sent to you.

Ways to Give to the Rome YMCA:

Credit Card, Check Cash or Debit Card

The Rome YMCA accepts all major credit and debit cards, checks and cash. Systematic month donations can be arranged through a credit card or ACH.

Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)

If you are 70½ years old or older, you can maximize your charitable gift to the Rome YMCA by donating directly from your taxable IRA instead of taking your required minimum distribution. You can give any amount (up to a maximum of $105,000) per year from your IRA directly to a qualified charity such as the Rome YMCA without having to pay income taxes on the money.

Planned Giving

You can play a critical role in the lives of families in children in Rome and Floyd County through a charitable gift to the Rome YMCA. By including us in your Will and overall estate plans, you can help ensure that we'll always be here to support future generations.

In-Kind Gifts

We accept in-kind gifts which are donations of valuable products and/or services other than cash. Examples of these charitable contributions could include real estate, vehicles, equipment, etc. Once an in-kind gift is accepted, we will prepare and issue an in-kind gift receipt to the donor.

Matching Gifts

An employer match is a great way to increase the impact of your gift to the Rome YMCA. Please check with your Human Resources department to see if your employer matches your donation.

Gifts in Honor

A gift in honor is a great way to recognize a special occasion or send a birthday or holiday wish by letting that special someone know you are thinking of them. When you make a gift we will send a card with acknowledgment of your gift to the recipient. The acknowledgment identifies you but does not include your gift amount.

Gifts in Memory

A gift in memory of a loved one or friend is an emotional and thoughtful tribute to them and their accomplishments in life. For all memorial gifts, we will send an acknowledgment of your gift to the family of the person that you are making a tribute to. The acknowledgment identifies you but does not include your gift amount.

Please contact Jessica Brummett, Director of Development, at jbrummett@ymcarome.org to discuss a gift to the Rome YMCA or for more information about supporting the Rome YMCA through the gifting methods
