Fitness Staff

This is a part time position working in the Cardio/Weight Room area of the YMCA.  Our fitness staff help guide and direct members on their fitness journey by assisting them with both cardio and strength training needs. 

  • Provide an excellent member experience for ALL MEMBERS
  • Work in both the cardio and weight room areas assisting members with cardio and strength training needs.
  • Conduct initial consultations, ActivTrax strength assessments, Commit to be fit workouts, Workout with a fitness staff, & follow up appointments with members.
  • Provide assistance with workouts and feedback on the ActivTrax system. Coach members in support of behaviors that will help them meet their goals safely.
  • Work with staff on events, activities, and projects within the Wellness area.
  • Be observant of all members and areas and assist with needs within the wellness area.
  • Keep areas clean of debris, refill cups, wipes, and towels.
  • Restack and organize all equipment.
  • Report any concerns or issues to the Wellness Director
  • Direct members in proper facility etiquette and maintain order in wellness areas.
  • Attend meetings as requested by Wellness Director.
  • Conduct oneself in a manner that represents the core values (caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility) of the YMCA.
 

Lifeguard

Job Type: Part-Time

POSITION SUMMARY:

Maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and promotes safety in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Builds positive relationships with members and program participants through effective listening and verbal skills and creatively finds ways to connect them to one another and the Y community.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintains active surveillance of the pool area
  • Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and the “safe-in-six” model; completes related reports as required
  • Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area
  • Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state health department code
  • Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed
  • Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving
  • Performs chemical testing when not guarding, as required, and takes appropriate action
  • Identifies and celebrates the successes of members and program participants
  • Attends all staff meetings and in-service training
  • Assist with daily cleaning and sanitizing tasks in the aquatics department
  • Performs other duties as assigned
