Girls Swimming

Swim lesson are not offered at this time due to COVID-19. We hope to resume lessons in the near future. Please check back for updates. 

Waterbabies Lessons-Water Discovery 

Ages: 6 – 36 months.

Parents accompany children in the pool during each lesson. With the guidance of our instructor,  infants and toddlers are introduced to the aquatic environment through exploration designed to encourage them to enjoy themselves while learning about the water.

The goals of water babies include the following:

  • Encourage parents to set developmentally appropriate expectations for infants and toddlers enrolled in swim lessons.
  • Introduce and emphasize basic water safety to parents and provide a positive family aquatic experience.
  • Build relationships among and between parent(s) and child by providing opportunities for fun interaction in the water.

Lesson Times:
Tuesday/Thursday 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Preschool Lessons-Water Acclimation

Ages: 3 - 5 years 

Preschool swimmers develop comfort with underwater exploration and learn to safely exit the pool. This class lays the foundation that allows a student”s future progress in swimming. Please remain at the Y while your student is swimming; lessons my be viewed thought closed circuit televisions in the main lobby. 

Students in preschool lessons focus on the following:

  • Exploring the aquatic environment and building swim skills with instructor help
  • Developing basic skills to propel and glide through the water with instructor help
  • Learning basic aquatic safety and accepting some of the responsibility for safe practices.

Lesson Times:
Monday/Wednesday 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Cost:

$75 - Potential Member


Beginner Lessons-Water Movement 

Appropriate for children of all ages, beginning swimmers develop personal water safety and basic swim skills. Students develop a high level of comfort in the water by practicing safe water habits, engaging in underwater exploration, and learning how to swim to safety and exit if they fall into a body of water. Please remain at the Y while your student is swimming; lessons my be viewed thought closed circuit televisions in the main lobby. 

Students in beginner lessons focus on the following skills:

  • Swim, float, front glide, roll, back float, roll, front glide, and exit
  • Jump, push, turn, grab

Classes meet Monday-Thursday for 2 weeks.

Lesson Times:
Tuesday/Thursday3:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. 
OR
Monday/Wednesday 5:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.

Saturday Cost:
$35 Members

Saturday only class meets from 10:30 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.


Intermediate Lessons-Water Stamina

Intermediate lessons Introduce and refine stroke techniques in more accomplished students. Please remain at the Y while your student is swimming; lessons my be viewed thought closed circuit televisions in the main lobby. 

Students in intermediate lessons focus on the following:

  • Building stroke techniques
  • Learning additional water safety skills
  • Building an appreciation of swimming as a lifetime physical activity that may prevent chronic disease, and increase social-emotional as well as cognitive well-being

Lesson Times:
Tuesday/Thursday 3:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.
OR
Monday/Wednesday 5:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.
